This Pinot Noir was picked on September 25 2021, from 1982-planted vines at Namasté vineyard in the Van Duzer Corridor AVA. The plump, blue clusters shone with native yeast patina, and we destemmed them 100% into our fermenters. We trod the grapes and the next day a wild fermentation began. We performed aerated pump-overs morning and night for 16 days, splashing the cap with fuchsia wine. Afterwards, we separated free-run from press cuts into two once-used French oak barrels, where the wine rested for 12 months. The resulting wine is deep in color with intense concentration and brilliant energy. It gives dark fruit such as cassis and black currant, earthy aromas, and dark spice. It drinks beautifully now and may mature elegantly for a decade or more.
Bottled un-fined and unfiltered.
