Legacy of Myr

At Pearlstad Vineyard we have holdings of Chardonnay clones 548, 96, and 95. The vineyard, situated at 450 foot elevation in the Eola-Amity Hills, is the shoreline where an ancient sea once lapped up against the bank of an ancient shoal. On September 6th of 2021 we harvested the Chardonnay and returned to the winery where we pressed the grapes coarsely and slowly over hours. The juice went directly into six barrels, one of which was new. 11 months of elevage occurred with subtle stirring of the lees once per month. The wine has crystalline acidity, notes of saline and sea air, with citrus and half-ripe peach on the palate with just a hint of pie crust and spice on the long finish.
